Accessibility testing tool - Bootcamp

                                  Wave Accessibility tool

WAVE is a web accessibility evaluation tool developed by WebAIM.org. It provides visual feedback about the accessibility of your web content by injecting icons and indicators into your page. No automated tool can tell you if your page is accessible, but WAVE facilitates human evaluation and educates about accessibility issues. All analysis is done entirely within the Chrome browser allowing secure valuation of intranet, local, password protected, and other sensitive web pages.

To run a WAVE report, simply click on the WAVE icon to the right of your browser address bar, or select "WAVE this page" from the context menu.

Steps to verify the accessibility of the website

Step #1) Click on URL: http://wave.webaim.org/

Step #2) Enter the Web page address in the text box and hit enter. Example. So enter the site www.eenadu.net in the text box and click on the enter button.

Step #3) You will find summary details on the left-hand side of the navigation.

  1.  Errors would be displayed in red with a count. In my case, it’s showing as 107. Errors means there is missing alternative text / no text.
  2.    Contrast also displays in red with two dots inside. In my case its showing 37. It means very low contrast between text and background colors.
  3.   Alerts would be displayed in yellow with a count 188. Title attribute text is the same as text or alternative text.
How to fix it

  1. In most cases the title attribute can be removed, otherwise modify it to provide advisory, but not redundant information. Note that the title text may or may not be read by a screen reader and is typically inaccessible to sighted keyboard users.

      4. Features would be in green with a count 146. Ensure the figure presents accessible content and, if appropriate, has a figcaption.

      5. Structural Elements would be 138 in blue color
An unordered (bulleted) list (<ul> element) is present.

    How to Fix It

Ensure that an unordered (bulleted) list is appropriate for the context. If list items are sequential or numbered, an ordered list (<ol>) is likely more appropriate.

          6. ARIA would be in purple color with count 228
